San G. Bosco is a primary school located in a socially and economically developing area of Bisceglie, in the Apulian region, in the south – east of Italy, facing the Adriatic sea. The three school sites host about 330 pupils in the Infant school (3-5 years aged children) and about 630 students in the Primary school (6-10 years aged pupils). Students in the second site have lunch at the school canteen, supplied by catering facilities. Teachers’ timetable is from 8.00 to 1.30 p.m. or 8.00 to 4.00 p.m. for full time classes. The school is entitled to San Giovanni Bosco, a saint who devoted all his life helping poor children. The program of studies for our students is enriched by the possibility to work in linguistic, ITC, science and music labs. In the last years, the school has been financed by European Social Fund to give pupils the opportunity to certify their abilities in ITC and English language, thanks to links to EIPASS – European Informatics Passport -, and the TRINITY COLLEGE of LONDON. For both of them, our school is an official site for examination. Our school is always up to date and open to all kinds of new experiences. For example, considering the development and the importance of the ITC in the daily life, both for teachers’ updating and students’ learning, teachers involve pupils in many training activities concerned to the CODING. So, our students took part to the EUROPE CODE WEEK, organized by the European Commission. Students, in our school, come from different family backgrounds, due to the wide area the school includes. Consequently, some of them have special educational needs because of socio-cultural disadvantages; others belong to immigrated families, or suffer from specific learning disabilities. Classroom management is sometimes difficult. The winning strategy to involve all the students in the classroom life is “the power of the game”. In the last few years, even the parents, coming from culturally disadvantaged contexts, were involved in school courses about family psychology, informatics, Law, English language. Our school took part to a Comenius project in 2012/2014, appreciating the inner potential these European partnerships carry in themselves, in terms of teachers’ professional growth and students’ deep learning. The participation to this new project is a chance to exchange good practices, to enrich each partner with new strategies and methodologies, for a positive growth of students.
